Blog Post
For my third blog post I decided to write about our Social Studies class. In Social Studies we are learning about Africa. We had to write definitions about the chapter 8 vocabulary words. We have to make a title page on chapter 8 with pictures relating to the title. We had to write 5 paragraphs on the back explaining why we chose that picture. We are going to do our unit test in May. When Mr. Jackson left Ms. Macdonald did a review with us and talked about latitudes, longitudes, tropics etc. We also talked about human density and population. We talked briefly about the aboriginals in Australia. We talked about how Canada owns 20% of the Earths fresh water. I’m not sure what we will do next in Social Studies. Thank you.

Science

In science we are learning about the earth's crust. We learned about the core/crust of the earth, the lithosphere, igneous rock, sedimentary rock , metamorphic rock, mantle, and asthenosphere.

The core of the earth is the inside layer of the earth. The earth's inner core is extremely burning hot and not possible to travel to because of temperature and rigid. The earth's outer core is still impossible to travel to because of temperature but is not rigid it's more of a liquid. The crust of the earth is a thin layer of skin of the earth. The crust is the outermost solid shell of a rocky planet or natural satellite.

The lithosphere is the crust and upper-most solid mantle or the rigid outermost shell of the earth. Igneous rock is formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava. sedimentary rock are types of rock that are formed by the deposition of material such as sand dead animals etc. at the earth's surface and within bodies of water. Metamorphic rock is the original rock subjected to heat and pressure, causing physical or chemical change. Mantle is the middle layer of the earth. The asthenosphere is the highly viscous, mechanically weak and de-shaped region of the upper mantle of the earth and it lies below the lithosphere.

This is what we have been learning in science and it's been pretty fun so far. Then we had a short 5 question pop quiz and it was not that big of a surprise apparently...l but overall science hasn't been bad and this is a easy subject right now because I understand most of it.

Black City  

For my blog post I am talking about a book I have recently read called Black City by Elizabeth Richard.

The book is about a boy named Ash Fisher. He is half-human, and known as a darkling. Living in Black City is hard for him, for the government absolutely hates darklings. The government, known as the Sentry, wants them to leave the country. If a darkling is caught, it would probably mean death. Ash is learning to survive in the city with trackers who‘s main goal is to hunt down darklings.  The first and most obvious thing that a darkling doesn’t have like other humans is a heartbeat. Ash would love to have one, and then he meets Natalie, a girl who is the Sentry’s daughter. Ash knows his cover can be blown if Natalie was to tell the Sentry that Ash is a darkling. One thing Ash swears he notices when he is near her is that his heart actually beats. Ash and Natalie aren’t close at all, and Ash wants to find out why this is happening. To find out more you’ll have to read the book.

I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys action, romance or fantasy.

Blog post

My blog post will be about a book it is called Princess Academy Palace of Stone. This book is about this girl whose name is Miri and she moved from Mount Eskel to Asland.She meets this boy his name is Timon.She moved to Asland because her friend is getting married to someone there, her friends' name is Britta. Britta is getting married to this prince his name is Prince Steffan. The other friend's of Miri are there too because they are the ladies of the princess. 

In the book right now they are getting ready for Britta's wedding and Britta and Miri are getting ready together. Britta with Miri in the dance Ballroom and someone is holding her hand it is Timon and t hey are dancing. Miri sees her friend from Mount Eskel and his name is Peder. They dance too and after that night she writes to her sister her name is Marda.

Social Studies

In social studies we are doing a review. We are doing a review because our social studies teacher, Mr. Jackson, left, and we got our regular social studies teacher, Ms. McDonald. She’s doing a review so she knows what we learned and what we know.

One topic in the review was 7 billion day. We watched a couple of videos on it. It was really interesting and I really enjoyed watching those videos. We also watched a video that told what the typical person would be. He would be Male, Chinese, 28 years old, and have black hair.

I really like Ms. McDonald’s teaching style. I like it because she gives a ton of examples which really helps me understand. We were given our first assignment from her on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. The assignment is about chapter 8 vocabulary. The assignment is due Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Thank you for listening/reading my blog post.
