The Pulse        Yosan Ghille October 30, 2013

Near October 20, I began reading a book named Pulse. A quick summary of this book is that it is about a girl named Faith Daniels who lives in the Eastern State and the land is starting to become empty due to people moving to the apparently better Western State. She then discovers she has the telekinetic ability to move objects with her mind because of a boy named Dylan Gilmore in her class. Faith soon befriends a boy named Hawk along with her close friend Liz Brinn. Sadly her friend later in the story moves to the Western State and Faith is left feeling lonely. There are two twins though, named Clara and Wade Quinn who also have the pulse. The twins also have the ability to being impervious to weapons except for their weaknesses. Clara and Wade Quinn entered the Field Games in the Western State and Clara purposely kills Liz Brinn during the hammer throw. Clara and Faith then have a battle to the death, but Dylan helps her. They beat the twins, but Clara throws a stone at the back of Faith’s head and she knocks out and the story ends.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys futuristic books. This book takes place in the year 2051. Faith’s parents are drifters so she lives alone. Unfortunately her parents got killed by Wade Quinn. The twins enjoy killing drifters and think they are dangerous. Thank you!

                                              St Paul's Debate

On Tuesday October 29th many students went to St. Paul’s for a debate. The debate was in the event of a zombie attack we would abandon the weak. A handful of people went to represent our school and I think we proved a worthy opponent. In the debate there was two leagues and each league had two different rounds. In each round you would be representing a different side of the debate, the two side were the government and the opposition.

Between the rounds people had a small break for talking to their partners and getting prepared for the next round but it was mostly for the snacks. I will not be able to fill you in well for the open category because I was competing in the novice category. The teams from our school in the novice category were Mandeep and Sandeep and Bianca and I. Afterwards we went to the awards the novice awards are as follows for our school for best individual speaker: Sandeep in 9th, me in 8th and Bianca in first, and for best team: Bianca and I got 2nd I thought that we had a good chance of getting first for that but the person who did get first for best team was by himself so obviously his team was more coordinated.
